Held in March of 2015, the Urban Waterways Symposium gathered panelists from our local and national networks and local activists at a day-long symposium which explored issues of Education & Practice; Recreation & Environmentalism; Models in Grassroots Leadership; Collaboration Techniques; Waterfront Development; and New Urbanism and Gentrification.
The symposium’s collaborative convening partners are Turkey Creek Community Initiatives, Turkey Creek, MS; The City Project, Los Angeles, CA; Parks and People Foundation, Baltimore, MD; Anacostia Watershed Society, Bladensburg, MD; 11th Street Bridge Project and the Urban Waterways Federal Partnership, both in Washington, DC; and the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) of the University of the District of Columbia.
